Mr. Ryukou Tomoyose, the honorary president of the OKIKUKAI, was honored as the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays in the autumn of 2011, and Mr. Shigeru Takamiyagi, the senior advisor of the OKIKUKAI, will be commended as The Okinawa Prefecture Cultural Merit.

It was announced that Mr. Ryukou Tomoyose, the honorary president of the OKIKUKAI, was honored as the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays in the autumn of 2011 announced at the last Culture Day, November 3 and Mr. Shigeru Takamiyagi, the senior advisor of the OKIKUKAI, will be commended as The Okinawa Prefecture Cultural Merit of 2011.
Mr. Tomoyose is made an Okinawa Prefecture intangible cultural asset of “Karate and Kobujutsu of Okinawa” holder and Mr. Takamiyagi received the Cultural Merit commendation for his Karate and Kobujutsu service.
Teachers had fulfilled leadership roles in Okinawa Karate for many years, it played a great role in the spread of Okinawa Karate in foreign countries etc., In recognition of their distinguished services which contributed greatly to the development of Okinawa Karate, and they were rewarded with this honor.
We will expect more and more activities of both teachers in the future.
